Risk Overview Dashboard

  • Updated

The Risk Overview Dashboard provides a centralized view of all risks logged and managed within the Risk Registry. It enables organizations to monitor risk exposure over time, understand the effectiveness of risk treatment, and assess how risks relate to AI systems and datasets across the organization.

This dashboard helps risk owners, compliance teams, and AI governance stakeholders track overall risk posture and make informed decisions based on real-time and historical risk data.

Purpose

The Risk Overview Dashboard is designed to give users high-level visibility into organizational risk trends while maintaining traceability to underlying AI usage.

Key objectives include:

  • Visualizing how risks are discovered and managed over time

  • Understanding residual risk after mitigation efforts

  • Assessing untreated versus treated risks using standardized risk matrices

  • Linking risks to one or more AI Inventory systems and/or datasets for contextual governance

  • Comparing Internal AI risk exposure vs. Third-Party AI risk exposure by risk level

This ensures risks associated with AI systems whether internally developed or externally sourced are consistently monitored and governed.

Key Features

Date Range Filtering

Users can select a custom date range (e.g., last 30 days, last 6 months, last 12 months, or all time) to analyze risk trends for a specific period.
All dashboard metrics and visualizations dynamically update based on the selected timeframe.

Internal AI vs. Third Party AI Risk View

Users can toggle between:

  • Internal AI by Risk Level

  • Third-Party AI by Risk Level

This view enables organizations to compare risk distribution across internally developed AI systems versus externally sourced or vendor-provided AI systems. It helps identify concentration of risk, vendor exposure, and governance gaps between internal and third-party AI usage.

Risk Over Time Visualization

The dashboard displays a time-based graph showing:

  • Risk Discovered Over Time – The total number of risks identified during the selected period

  • Residual Risk Over Time – The number of risks remaining after treatment or mitigation

These trends are shown side by side, allowing users to:

  • Track how quickly risks are being identified

  • Measure the effectiveness of remediation efforts

  • Identify periods of increased risk discovery or unresolved exposure

Risk Matrices

The Treated Risk Matrix shows risks that have undergone mitigation, controls, or remediation.

This view allows organizations to:

  • Validate whether treatments have effectively reduced impact or likelihood

  • Compare untreated versus treated risk distribution

  • Demonstrate progress in risk reduction for audits and internal reviews

The Untreated Risk Matrix visualizes all open risks that have not yet been treated or mitigated.

  • Impact Axis: Low, Medium, High, Critical

  • Likelihood Axis: Rare / Unlikely, Possible, Likely, Almost Certain

Each cell in the matrix displays the number of open risks that fall within that impact–likelihood combination, helping teams quickly identify high-priority exposures.

Notes

  • The Risk Overview Dashboard reflects risks created and managed within the Risk Registry.

  • Open risks contribute to the Untreated Risk Matrix, while mitigated risks contribute to the Treated Risk Matrix.

  • Residual risk reflects remaining exposure after controls or mitigation actions are applied.

  • Each risk shown in the dashboard originates from the Risk Registry and may be linked to:

    • One or multiple AI Inventory systems

    • One or multiple datasets associated with AI usage

  • Use this dashboard for executive reporting, risk reviews, and ongoing AI governance oversight.
