We're introducing FileConnect Enterprise v3.1 (FCE 3.1) — a release focused on making FCE faster to deploy, easier to maintain, and simpler to fit into your existing infrastructure.
FCE 3.1 is now the standard version for all new FileConnect Enterprise installations.
What's changed
No virtual machine required. The biggest change in 3.1: FCE now installs directly onto your own host operating system — there's no OVA (virtual appliance) to import and no hypervisor dependency. Deploy FCE onto a supported RHEL or CentOS host using two guided installation scripts, and it fits neatly into the infrastructure you already run.
Guided, script-based installation. Installation is handled by two scripts — install-Diskover.sh and install-FCE.sh — that install prerequisites, configure components, and get you to a working system with far less manual setup. An access token, provided by RecordPoint, secures every install and upgrade.
Modern, up-to-date platform. FCE 3.1 runs on a refreshed technology stack (Python 3.11, JDK 21, Elasticsearch 8) and supports current RHEL 8/9/10 and CentOS 9/10 hosts.
Everything you already value in v3. The modern web-based UI, native Kibana dashboards and reporting, Diskover-powered scanning, and expanded metadata capture (including the Author field) all carry forward unchanged.
What this means for existing customers
If you're already running FCE 3.0 on the RecordPoint-supplied OVA, nothing breaks. Your existing deployment remains supported, and you can continue to run it. When you're ready, you can upgrade in place to 3.1 using the upgrade guide.
Please note: the 3.0 OVA will not be updated after the 3.1 release. To receive ongoing product updates, plan to move to 3.1.
