RecordPoint Supported File Types for Classification

Access to the Classification Intelligence machine learning module may require an additional subscription, depending on your current licensing model. If you wish to obtain access to the Classification Intelligence, kindly contact your RecordPoint Account Manager.

Role required
To Train a model you need to be assigned to either the Application Administrator or Records Manager role in Records365.

RecordPoint’s Classification Intelligence service is designed to process a wide range of file types to perform analysis, extract insights, and enable the classification of documents at scale. Below is a guide of all the different file formats that our Classification Intelligence tool can process.

Supported Text and Document Formats

RecordPoint is able to accomodate a diverse array of text and document formats. Please find a comprehensive catalog of all supported MIME types available for the Classification Intelligence module:

  • HTML Documents: text/html

  • XML Files: text/xml, application/xml

  • JSON Files: text/json, application/json

  • CSS Stylesheets: text/css

  • Plain Text Files: text/plain

  • Batch Files: application/bat, application/x-bat, application/x-msdos-program

  • TextEdit Documents: application/textedit

  • CSV Files: text/csv, application/csv

  • Windows Shortcuts: application/x-ms-shortcut

  • Project Files: application/x-project

  • PHP Scripts: text/x-php

  • URL Files: text/x-url

  • Excel Documents:

Image File Processing

RecordPoint also supports the processing of various image formats. By default, Image File Processing for Classification is not enabled to optimise system performance. To activate Image File Processing for Classification Intelligence, please reach out to our dedicated support team who will assist with enabling this feature.

The below list outlines all the supported image format types for Classification Intelligence:

  • JPG/JPEG Images: image/jpg, image/jpeg

  • PNG Images: image/png

  • GIFs: image/gif

  • TIFF Images: image/tif

  • BMP Images: image/bmp, image/x-ms-bmp

While RecordPoint does support PDFs, it is important to note that by default, image only PDFs require the activation of Image File Processing to be fully accessible. This feature is not enabled by default to optimise system performance and to control costs, ensuring RecordPoint provides the most efficient service to users.

Email File Types

RecordPoint is designed with advanced recognition capabilities for email formats, proficiently identifying emails when the metadata indicates a file name ending with .MSG or .OFT. This enhancement ensures that emails are accurately categorized, improving the efficiency of data classification, regardless of the broader MIME type classification.

Large Files

In order to maintain optimal performance and system integrity, RecordPoint’s Classification Intelligence has a default file size limit of 10MB. This constraint ensures that all users benefit from efficient and reliable performance of our services..
