AI System - Risk Assessment Tab

  • Updated

The Risk Assessments tab allows you to evaluate and document risks associated with the current AI system. These assessments help surface issues related to privacy, fairness, environmental impact, and other governance concerns aligned with frameworks such as the NIST AI Risk Management Framework.

Assessments completed here support audit readiness, internal reviews, and system approvals.

Purpose

This tab allows users to:

  • Run a variety of risk assessments aligned with governance frameworks

  • Save and resume assessment progress as needed

  • Submit finalized assessments for record-keeping and review

  • View assessment history and details

  • Log new AI-specific risks tied to this system

Completed assessments are available for ongoing reference and can be used to justify approval decisions or drive mitigation activities.

Goals

The primary goal of this page is to allow users to run a variety of governance-aligned assessments for the AI system, such as:

  • Privacy Impact Assessment

  • Bias and Fairness Assessment

  • Environmental Impact Assessment

These templates are based on standards like the NIST AI RMF and are maintained in the Assessment Templates section under Risk Management.

Users can also quickly log specific AI-related risks by selecting + Quick Add AI Risk, which opens a separate page to create a new entry. Once at least one associated risk has been created and linked, it will be displayed under Associated Risks, including key attributes like:

  • Risk type

  • Likelihood

  • Impact

This gives users a clear view into open risks for the system, directly tied to assessment findings or manually added concerns.

Using the Risk Assessments Tab

Run an Assessment

Click + Run Assessment to select from available templates. Each template contains a structured set of questions, with space to document responses and add evidence or context as needed.

Assessments can be saved in progress and submitted when complete. Once submitted, they are marked Completed and added to the assessment history.

View Details

Use the View Details button to open a submitted assessment. This view shows:

  • Assessor name

  • Version and timestamps

  • How each question was answered

Submitted assessments are also available in the Risk Assessments Dashboard under Risk Management.

Add AI Risk

To log a specific risk without completing a full assessment, use + Quick Add AI Risk. This opens a separate page dedicated to risk entry. Once submitted, the risk will appear under Associated Risks for the current AI system and also in the Risk Register Dashboard.

Associated Risks

This section displays all risks currently linked to the AI system. Each entry shows its classification, likelihood, and impact rating. This provides a consolidated view of the system’s risk posture, based on both structured assessments and manual entries.

If no risks have been added, the system will indicate that none are currently linked.

Notes

  • Assessments and risks are tracked independently but can be cross-referenced

  • Templates are maintained under Assessment Templates in Risk Management

  • All submitted risks and assessments are centralized under the broader Risk Management area of RexCommand
