Create New Policy

  • Updated

The Create New Policy page is where you begin drafting and configuring a new AI governance policy in RexCommand. This is the first step toward establishing enforceable, reviewable standards for responsible AI use across your organization.

Once created, policies can be published, assigned to employees for acknowledgment, reviewed on a schedule, and linked to compliance frameworks using the View Actions interface.

Purpose

This page allows policy administrators to define the foundational elements of a policy—including its title, version, ownership, content, and acknowledgment rules—before assigning it for approval or distribution.

Sections Overview

Policy Information

This section captures the policy's basic metadata and administrative properties.

  • Policy Title – Required. The name of the policy (max 80 characters).

  • Version – Required. Uses semantic versioning (e.g., 1.0.0).

  • Policy Owner – Required. Identifies who is responsible for maintaining the policy.

  • Effective Date – Optional. Sets the date the policy becomes active.

  • Status – Indicates whether the policy is in Draft, Pending Review, or Published state.

  • Require Acknowledgement – If enabled, assigned users will be required to acknowledge the policy.

  • Description – Brief summary to describe the purpose or scope of the policy.

Review Schedule

Configure optional review settings to ensure the policy stays up to date.

  • Review Date (Optional) – A specific date when the policy should be re-reviewed.

  • Review Interval (Optional) – Set how frequently the policy should undergo automatic review (e.g., every 6 months). Choose “No automatic review” to skip scheduling.

Review scheduling supports governance accountability and keeps policies aligned with evolving frameworks or business needs.

Policy Mode

Select how the policy will be delivered:

  • URL Mode – Link to an externally hosted policy document (e.g., public policy site, cloud drive).

  • Build Your Policy – Use the built-in rich text editor to draft the full policy directly within RexCommand.

This flexibility allows organizations to integrate existing documentation or write new content natively in the platform.

Policy Content

If “Build Your Policy” is selected, this section becomes active:

  • Content Editor – Enter the full policy body here using text formatting and structure tools.

  • Add Template Language – Insert language pulled from governance frameworks such as NIST AI RMF to help align with best practices.

Next Steps

Once the policy is saved, continue setup using the View Actions interface. This is where you will:

  • Assign one or more compliance frameworks

  • Add approvers for policy review

  • Assign acknowledgment requirements to specific roles or employees

Publishing a policy and capturing acknowledgment is essential to ensuring AI governance is enforced across your organization.

Notes

  • Policies can remain in Draft until you are ready to initiate the approval workflow.

  • Once published, all changes will require versioning and re-approval.

  • Linking to frameworks and setting a review schedule ensures traceability for audits.
