RexCommand helps organizations operationalize AI governance across every part of the AI system lifecycle—from policy definition through risk assessments, system approvals, and audit readiness. This Getting Started guide walks you through how to use RexCommand effectively, linking out to documentation for each core module.
This guide is intended for new users setting up RexCommand for the first time, as well as governance leads building an AI compliance program from the ground up.
1. Begin with Oversight and Governance Foundations
Before managing AI systems or datasets, start by understanding the governance structure and configuring organizational readiness:
Overview – Learn what RexCommand does and how it supports AI governance.
AI Maturity – Use the maturity assessment to evaluate your organization's current state and identify next steps.
-
Settings – Configure employees, teams, and access roles.
2. Set Your Policy and Training Structure
Define how your organization governs AI usage and ensure staff receive appropriate training.

Note: Make sure to pick your Compliance Framework in the Compliance Tab
3. Register and Manage AI Systems
Once policies and training are in place, begin registering AI systems and tracking their governance.
At this point, AI systems should have completed their risk assessments and attached relevant documentation. This is typically when system approval is initiated and tracked, before final components like datasets are linked.
4. Manage Datasets and Their Governance
Track dataset usage, quality, compliance, and risks linked to AI systems.
5. Manage Risk End-to-End
Track all risks—whether from assessments, system evaluations, or manual identification.

Note: This is not required to move on and can be done at a later point.
6. Track and Respond to Incidents
Manage issues and operational events that affect AI system safety or integrity.
7. Monitor Vulnerabilities
Track discovered vulnerabilities and associated remediation workflows.
What’s Next?
Once your systems, datasets, risks, and controls are in place, you can begin reporting on governance performance and maintaining readiness for audits, internal reviews, or regulatory assessments.
